Autumn 2026 · Six or eight weeks
Follow the Sun
Make autumn last longer.
Collect near Heathrow, point south and turn the quietest months of the year into one unhurried European adventure.
A slower route to better weather
Collect near Heathrow. Follow the better weather south.
Summer does not have to end when the school holidays do. Take the actual Van Tropez from the UK through changing landscapes, cooler trailheads, quieter towns and the warmer edges of Europe, with enough time to stop rather than simply transit.
Made for active, time-rich travellers who would rather assemble one memorable journey than book a chain of hotels, hire cars and short stays.

One van, properly known
Adventure outside. A capable little home inside.
Comfort across the seasons
The programmable heater, insulated conversion and indoor cooking setup keep wet Atlantic mornings and cooler Alpine evenings in play.
Small enough for real places
An automatic VW T6 fits village streets, trailhead parking and everyday campsites more naturally than a large motorhome.
Ready to live from
Fridge, water, hob, sink, hook-up, awning and full blinds give two people a credible long-stay rhythm.
The Europe admin is started
Approved trips include UK and Europe insurance and breakdown, a document pack, toll tag and French Crit'Air sticker.
Three modular journeys
Start at Heathrow. Decide how you want autumn to unfold.
Each route is a source of ideas, not a fixed tour. Campsite opening dates, weather and winter equipment shape the final version.
Coasts, surf towns and Portugal
Cross via Folkestone, trace Normandy or Brittany, then follow the Atlantic through the Basque Country and northern Spain toward Portugal.
- Best chance of extending the milder weather
- Ideal for walkers, surfers and food-led travel
- Return through western France
One booking, a whole season
Six weeks to roam. Eight weeks to settle into it.
The weekly rate falls as the trip gets longer, with a mileage bundle sized to the route rather than an unrealistic promise of unlimited driving.
The great autumn escape
£2,940–£3,360From £490 per weekEnough time for one coherent southbound route with room to wait for a better day.

Pick the kind of autumn
Share the weeks, interests and route shape that would make the trip worth taking.
Confirm people and countries
We pre-clear drivers, insurance, breakdown cover, mileage and the proposed corridor.
Build the framework
A planning call turns one of the three journeys into a practical route with decision points.
Collect near Heathrow
A personal Long Stay handover gets you comfortable with the actual van before you head south.
Designed for the right trip
Freedom works better with a few clear edges.
Follow the Sun is a self-drive expedition rental, not an owner-managed tour. We prepare the van and the operating framework; you keep custody and own the journey.
- Two adults for the first long-stay departures
- One or two approved, confident European drivers
- A six- or eight-week continuous rental
- A route within agreed countries and mileage
- No mid-trip storage, driver swaps or one-way return
Good questions, answered plainly
Before you picture the first morning.
The final agreement, insurer approval and trip documents control the booking. These answers explain how the proposition is designed.
Will the whole trip be warm?+
No route can promise that. The advantage is mobility: you can move toward better weather, while the heater and indoor kitchen keep cooler or wetter days comfortable.
Do we have to follow one of the three routes?+
No. They show credible shapes and mileage. We can adapt one within the approved country, season and cover boundaries.
Can we leave the van and fly home for a week?+
Not within the pilot offer. The approved hirer keeps continuous custody, and there are no informal driver swaps or unattended overseas storage.
Can we work from the van?+
Occasional laptop days are realistic, but we do not sell Van Tropez as a full remote office. You remain responsible for mobile coverage and any workspace needs.
Who books the campsites?+
You do. We supply a shortlist, seasonal checks and route logic, while you retain control of bookings and day-to-day changes.
